Nolan’s early crime films
Following
Nolan’s feature debut is available through the Criterion Channel. The black-and-white neo-noir follows an unemployed writer who begins trailing strangers through London and is drawn into a criminal scheme.
The Criterion Channel also offers related material, including a chronological edit and commentary featuring Nolan. That makes it one of the most useful streaming editions for viewers interested in how the filmmaker developed his nonlinear storytelling.
Memento
Memento currently has several subscription options. It is listed by Netflix, Hulu and Peacock.
Guy Pearce stars as Leonard Shelby, a man who cannot form new memories after a traumatic injury. He relies on handwritten notes, photographs and tattoos while searching for the person he believes murdered his wife.
Insomnia
Insomnia is not currently included with a major U.S. subscription service. It can instead be rented or purchased through stores such as Apple TV, Prime Video and Fandango at Home.
The psychological thriller stars Al Pacino as a detective investigating a killing in an Alaskan town where the summer sun never fully disappears. Robin Williams and Hilary Swank also star.
Where to stream the Dark Knight trilogy
All three of Nolan’s Batman films have active HBO Max title pages, making that service the most straightforward home for the trilogy.
Batman Begins
Batman Begins is streaming on HBO Max. An active Netflix title listing is also available, although Netflix availability can differ between accounts and regions.
Christian Bale’s first appearance as Bruce Wayne follows the character’s training, return to Gotham City and decision to become a masked crime fighter. Liam Neeson, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Cillian Murphy are among the supporting cast.
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight is available on HBO Max. The second chapter places Batman, James Gordon and district attorney Harvey Dent against the Joker, played by Heath Ledger.
The Dark Knight Rises
The Dark Knight Rises is also on HBO Max. The conclusion brings Bruce Wayne out of retirement as Gotham faces Bane and a new citywide crisis.
The Prestige, Inception and Interstellar
The Prestige
The Prestige has one of the widest subscription footprints in Nolan’s catalog. It is currently listed on Hulu, Disney+ and Peacock.
Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale play rival stage magicians whose professional competition becomes increasingly destructive. The cast also includes Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall and David Bowie.
Inception
Inception is the most uncertain title in the current U.S. catalog. A recent U.S. streaming listing identifies MGM+ as its subscription home, while another July 2026 report says the film is on HBO Max.
Because those current sources disagree, viewers should search their own MGM+ and HBO Max accounts before subscribing specifically for the film. It remains available to rent or purchase through major digital stores.
Leonardo DiCaprio leads the science-fiction thriller as Dom Cobb, a specialist who enters shared dreams to steal information. His final assignment requires him to plant an idea rather than remove one.
Interstellar
Interstellar is currently streaming through Hulu and Paramount+.
Matthew McConaughey plays Cooper, a former pilot who leaves his family to join an expedition searching for a possible future home for humanity. Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine also star.
Dunkirk, Tenet and Oppenheimer
Dunkirk
Dunkirk is available with a Peacock subscription. Peacock added the film in May 2026.
Nolan presents the evacuation of Allied soldiers from Dunkirk through intersecting stories on land, at sea and in the air. The different timelines gradually converge as the rescue operation develops.
Tenet
Tenet has an active HBO Max listing in multiple markets. U.S. catalog visibility may vary by account, so viewers should confirm the title before subscribing. Digital rental and purchase options remain available as an alternative.
John David Washington plays an operative introduced to a technology that can reverse the direction of objects and people through time. Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki and Kenneth Branagh also star.
Oppenheimer
Oppenheimer is no longer included with a major U.S. subscription service, despite older articles that still identify Peacock as its streaming home. It can currently be rented or purchased through Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango at Home and other digital stores.
Cillian Murphy stars as theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. The film follows his work on the Manhattan Project and the political consequences that followed the development of the atomic bomb.
Can you stream The Odyssey?
The Odyssey is not a streaming release. Universal Pictures will open the film in theaters on July 17, 2026.
Matt Damon stars as Odysseus in Nolan’s adaptation of the ancient Greek epic. The announced cast also includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway and Lupita Nyong’o.
Universal and IMAX have confirmed that the production was shot entirely with IMAX film cameras. For streaming, no official release date has been announced.
Why Nolan’s movies are divided among so many services
No single streaming company controls Nolan’s complete filmography. His movies were released by different distributors, and subscription licenses are negotiated for limited periods. A film can therefore move from one service to another even when an old title page or article remains online.
That is why a current streaming guide must distinguish between an active subscription listing, a regional page and a digital store that only offers rental or purchase.
What to
watch before The Odyssey
Viewers who want a compact Nolan marathon could start with Memento, continue with The Prestige or The Dark Knight, and finish with Interstellar or Oppenheimer. Together, those films show how his work expanded from tightly constructed psychological mysteries to large-format historical and science-fiction productions.
Streaming availability will continue to rotate, but most of Nolan’s released films currently have at least one subscription or rental option in the United States. Which Christopher Nolan movie are you revisiting before The Odyssey?
