Matt Reeves has released the first moving glimpse of Robert Pattinson’s return in The Batman Part II, but the long-awaited sequel will arrive later than previously planned.
The brief footage is a camera test rather than a conventional trailer. It shows Pattinson back in the Batman costume against a dark, snow-covered setting. Warner Bros. has meanwhile rescheduled the film for February 18, 2028, replacing its previous October 1, 2027 date.
The new material confirms that production is moving forward, but it reveals almost nothing about the story or Batman’s next enemy.

Reeves shared the footage through an official The Batman Part 2 camera test. The test keeps Pattinson’s face mostly hidden and focuses instead on Batman’s silhouette, cape and cowl.

The Batman Part II is now scheduled to open in theaters on February 18, 2028. The film had most recently been set for October 1, 2027.
This is the latest in a series of calendar changes for the project. DC Studios originally announced an October 2025 release before the sequel moved through later dates in 2026 and 2027.
The latest change means the sequel is expected to arrive almost six years after The Batman, which opened in March 2022. Warner Bros. has not provided a detailed public explanation for the newest delay, so claims assigning it to one specific production or corporate issue should be treated cautiously.

Robert Pattinson will again play Bruce Wayne and Batman, with Matt Reeves returning as director. Reeves co-wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin.
The announced returning cast includes Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Jayme Lawson and Gil Perez-Abraham. The new ensemble additions include Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch.

Robert Pattinson’s Batman remains separate from the main DC Universe
