Tom Blyth Shares Honest Thoughts On Returning As President Snow In Hunger Games Prequel

As the Hunger Games franchise prepares for another prequel release in 2026, Tom Blyth has opened up about whether audiences might ever see him return as a younger version of President Coriolanus Snow.

Although Blyth has built a steady acting career over the past decade, his breakout moment came with The Hunger Games The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. His portrayal of an ambitious and morally conflicted young Snow offered fans a chilling look at how Panem’s future dictator was formed.

No Involvement In Sunrise On The Reaping

In a recent interview, Blyth confirmed that he will not appear in Sunrise on the Reaping, even in flashback form. He made it clear that he is not involved in the upcoming film, acknowledging that the news may disappoint fans who were hoping to see his version of Snow again.

The new prequel takes place decades later, during the Fiftieth Hunger Games, meaning Snow is now much older. The role has been recast with Ralph Fiennes portraying the authoritarian leader in his fifties.

Hope Depends On Suzanne Collins

Despite stepping away from the franchise for now, Blyth has not closed the door completely. He emphasized that everything in the Hunger Games universe begins with author Suzanne Collins. If Collins ever chooses to revisit the timeline explored in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Blyth says he would happily return.

Until then, he remains supportive of the cast and creators, expressing admiration for watching the franchise continue to evolve without him.

Watching Ralph Fiennes Take Over Snow

Blyth also addressed whether he has spoken with Ralph Fiennes about the role. He revealed that the two have not communicated, joking that there is no advice he could possibly offer an actor of Fiennes’ caliber.

Rather than feeling replaced, Blyth described the experience as surreal and exciting, noting how meaningful it is to see one of his longtime acting idols step into a role he once played.

What Sunrise On The Reaping Will Explore

Unlike The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which focused on the Tenth Hunger Games, Sunrise on the Reaping shifts to the Second Quarter Quell. This brutal edition of the games featured forty eight tributes and ended with Haymitch Abernathy emerging as the sole survivor.

The story further expands Panem’s history and continues the franchise’s trend of exploring how the Games shaped its most iconic figures.

The Future Of The Hunger Games Universe

Although many believed the series ended with Katniss Everdeen, Suzanne Collins surprised readers by expanding the universe through prequel novels. Lionsgate has confirmed it will only produce new films if Collins continues writing, leaving the future of Panem open but uncertain.

Fan demand remains strong for additional prequels centered on characters like Finnick Odair and Joanna Mason, though no official announcements have been made.

What Is Next For Tom Blyth

While Blyth may be stepping away from Panem, his career continues to gain momentum. He can currently be seen in Netflix’s People We Meet on Vacation, with additional projects already in post production.

The Hunger Games Sunrise on the Reaping is set to arrive in theaters on November 20, 2026.
