Netflix has officially confirmed the release date for the final chapter of The Upshaws. The family comedy will conclude with Part 7, which premieres globally on January 15 and marks the end of the series.
Unlike previous parts, the final installment will feature an expanded episode count. Viewers can expect 12 episodes, giving the show more room to wrap up storylines and deliver a proper farewell to the Upshaw family.
A Working Class Family To The Very End
The Upshaws centers on Bennie Upshaw, a well meaning but often overwhelmed mechanic living in Indianapolis. As the head of a Black working class family, Bennie constantly struggles to balance responsibility, relationships, and personal growth without any clear guide on how to succeed.
The series explores his marriage to Regina, their two young daughters, their firstborn son, and Bennie’s teenage son Kelvin from a previous relationship. Adding to the family dynamic is Regina’s sharp tongued sister Lucretia, whose presence often fuels conflict and humor in equal measure.
A Proper Goodbye For The Series
Creators and executive producers Regina Hicks and Wanda Sykes shared their appreciation for Netflix allowing the show to end on its own terms. They expressed gratitude for the opportunity to give The Upshaws a meaningful send off rather than an abrupt ending.
With an extended final part, the series aims to celebrate its characters, their growth, and the resilience that has defined the Upshaw family from the start.
Final Episodes Arrive In January
The official trailer for Part 7 has also been released, offering a first look at the emotional and comedic moments ahead. Fans can expect heartfelt conclusions, familiar humor, and one last ride with the family that never stopped trying to move forward together.
The Upshaws returns for its final episodes on Netflix on January 15.
