Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for How To Get To Heaven From Belfast, a new Irish comedy thriller from Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee. Blending sharp humor with mystery and emotional depth, the eight episode series promises a chaotic journey through friendship, grief, and long buried secrets.
Set to premiere on February 12, the series stars Roísín Gallagher, Sinéad Keenan, and Caoilfhionn Dunne as three lifelong friends whose reunion is sparked by the sudden death of someone they once considered family.
A Reunion That Turns Into A Reckoning
Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara have been inseparable since their school days, even as adulthood has pulled their lives in wildly different directions. Saoirse is a clever but chaotic television writer, Robyn is a glamorous yet overwhelmed mother of three, and Dara is a reserved and dependable carer who keeps everyone grounded.
Their fragile equilibrium is shattered when an unexpected email announces the death of Greta, the estranged fourth member of their childhood circle. What begins as a trip home for a funeral quickly spirals into something far stranger, as unsettling events at the wake force the trio to confront unresolved guilt and hidden truths.
Comedy, Mystery, And Emotional Fallout
As the story unfolds, the women are pulled into a darkly comic odyssey across Ireland and beyond. Each of them is grappling with who they have become versus who they thought they would be, while a growing mystery surrounding Greta’s death threatens to expose a secret they all share.
True to McGee’s style, the show balances laugh out loud humor with moments of raw honesty, exploring memory, identity, and the complicated bonds that survive even when life goes off script.
