Netflix Confirms Two More Emily Henry Romance Movies Are In Development

Netflix is doubling down on Emily Henry romance adaptations. Following the recent release of People We Meet on Vacation, the streamer has officially confirmed that two more of the bestselling author’s novels are being turned into feature films.

Funny Story and Happy Place are both moving forward as Netflix original romantic comedies, with Emily Henry herself attached as the screenwriter for both projects. She previously served as an executive producer on People We Meet on Vacation, making this a deeper creative collaboration with the platform.

Funny Story Brings A Fake Relationship With Real Feelings

Funny Story centers on Daphne, whose carefully planned life unravels when her fiancé Peter realizes he’s actually in love with his childhood best friend, Petra. Suddenly stranded in the picturesque lakeside town of Waning Bay, Michigan, Daphne is left without friends, family, or financial security.

Her unexpected solution is moving in with the one person who understands her situation better than anyone else: Miles Nowak, Petra’s ex. Scruffy, chaotic, and emotionally guided by heartbreak playlists, Miles is the complete opposite of Daphne’s reserved and practical personality.

What begins as an awkward roommate arrangement slowly evolves into a friendship and a plan. By posting carefully curated photos of their supposed summer adventures together, Daphne and Miles aim to reclaim control over their narratives. The problem is that pretending to be happy together starts to feel dangerously real.

Happy Place Explores Love After The Breakup

Happy Place tells the story of Harriet and Wyn, a couple who seemed inseparable after meeting in college. Perfect together in every way except one: they quietly broke up six months ago and never told their closest friends.

Now they’re forced to share a bedroom during what may be the final summer getaway at their beloved Maine cottage. The annual tradition has always been their escape from reality, filled with good food, wine, ocean air, and chosen family.

As the cottage faces sale and emotions run high, Harriet and Wyn agree to pretend they’re still together to spare their friends heartbreak. For one week, they’ll play the roles everyone expects. But when old feelings refuse to stay buried, faking love proves far more complicated than either anticipated.

Emily Henry’s Netflix Era Is Just Beginning

With People We Meet on Vacation already out and two more adaptations officially announced, Netflix is clearly positioning Emily Henry as a cornerstone of its modern rom-com lineup. Both Funny Story and Happy Place blend emotional depth with humor, making them ideal fits for the platform’s audience.

Casting details and release dates have not yet been revealed, but production updates are expected soon.
