Ghost Rider Still Rides Free as Nicolas Cage Marvel Film Nears Streaming Exit

Nicolas Cage’s fiery Marvel antihero is still blazing across screens for a limited time, as Ghost Rider remains available to stream for free before its upcoming removal. The 2007 superhero horror film, co starring Sam Elliott, is set to disappear from Tubi at the end of January 2026, along with its sequel.

Released during an era when Marvel adaptations were still finding their footing, Ghost Rider introduced audiences to Johnny Blaze, a daring stuntman who seals a supernatural bargain that transforms him into a chain wielding agent of vengeance. Cage’s wild performance became one of the film’s most enduring elements, helping the movie remain memorable despite mixed critical reception.

A Box Office Hit That Divided Critics

Although critics were far from kind at the time of release, the film struck a chord with moviegoers. Ghost Rider opened at the top of the box office and ultimately pulled in over two hundred million dollars worldwide. That financial success secured its place as one of Marvel’s more commercially surprising wins of the era.

The cast featured an eclectic lineup, including Eva Mendes, Wes Bentley, Peter Fonda and Donal Logue, with Mark Steven Johnson directing. Sam Elliott’s gravel voiced presence as the mysterious Caretaker became a standout among fans.

The Sequel That Failed to Ignite

Success led to the follow up Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance, released in 2012. Cage returned as Blaze alongside a new supporting cast that included Idris Elba and Ciarán Hinds. Unfortunately, the sequel failed to replicate the momentum of the original, earning significantly less at the box office and receiving even harsher critical reviews.

Plans for a third installment were ultimately abandoned after Marvel Studios regained control of the character’s film rights, bringing Cage’s run as Ghost Rider to an end.

Nicolas Cage Beyond the Flame

By the time he donned the flaming skull, Cage was already an established Hollywood figure with a career spanning decades. His work ranged from romantic dramas and action blockbusters to Oscar winning performances. Since Ghost Rider, he has continued to explore wildly different projects across animation, independent cinema and franchise films.

Looking ahead, Cage is set to return to Marvel inspired territory once again, starring as Ben Reilly in the upcoming Spider Noir live action series.

Last Chance for a Fiery Rewatch

Even nearly twenty years after its release, Ghost Rider continues to attract new viewers through free streaming platforms. Fans who want to revisit Cage’s supernatural Marvel chapter or experience it for the first time have only a short window left before both films leave Tubi.

Sometimes the flames burn longest after the box office lights go out.
